DESCRIPTION:To celebrate Faith47’s new mural in Manchester in support of LGBT+ rights as part of the CitiesofHope 9 day convention and the launch party of Partisan’s temporary space\, we present an all-day event celebrating queer politics and culture in Manchester. \nFeaturing a panel discussion on the role of art for queer(ing) politics and activism\, a screening of “Screaming Queens: the Riot at Compton’s” and Simpson’s based performance/disco party hosted by Charlotte Davies and Marilyn Misandry of Thirsty Girls. \nThis will be the opening event for Partisan’s (www.partisancollective.net) temporary space. Partisan is a workers’ co-operative working towards providing permanent space for radical politics\, DIY art and culture in Manchester. \nLine-up\n2pm-4pm: Queer(ing) politics: What role for art and culture?\n4pm-5pm: Film screening (+ free popcorn): Screaming Queens: The Riot at Compton’s\n5pm-9pm: Homerpalooza – A Simpson’s Disco\nFor one evening\, Charlotte Davies and Marilyn Misandry of Thirsty Girls and a host of Manchester’s premier performers bring you “HOMERPALOOZA” an all singing\, all dancing tribute to the greatest cartoon on earth! Expect tunes from Tom Jones to 50 Cent\, pop up performances\, burlesque\, drag\, costumes and remember “you don’t win friends with salad”. Featuring: Monopoly Phonic\, Ivy Profemme\, Riley Vrus and Charli. \nTickets\nSuggested donation depending on income: £2/£5/£10: tickets available here. \nAll proceeds go towards paying performers a fair wage and the establishment of a permanent space for Partisan Collective. \nAfter party at Homoelectric! \n
