DESCRIPTION:An introduction to Greater Manchester Housing Action followed by a panel discussion with a range of activists\, journalists and housing experts. \nAt the end of this month\, the biggest housing conference in Europe\, Housing 2016\, is being held in Manchester Central. Greater Manchester Housing Action are holding two days of events to make it clear to those inside – representatives from housing associations\, private landlords associations\, and local and national politicians – that the people of Manchester demand and deserve safe affordable housing\, and that opportunities being opened up by DevoManc give us an opportunity to make this happen. \nGreater Manchester Housing Action is a new coalition of campaign groups to try and tackle the housing crisis in Manchester through innovative\, people-centred solutions. We want to pressure local and national government to change policies on social housing\, and also look at ways in which people can work together to meet their own housing needs\, though models such as cooperatives. We want to ensure the upcoming devolution deal allows the government of Greater Manchester to provide decent\, affordable housing to the people of Manchester.
